The long awaited CommUnity Closet opening was held on September 9th at the Brockton UU Church. It was a joyous success with some 50 families and adults coming through the doors to look over and select needed clothing from our racks and tables.
Large lawn signs, balloons and arrows pointed the way to our CommUnity Closet room. Visitors were greeted with a quick tour of the layout and a plastic bag for depositing their selections. Team members assisted visitors in finding the sizes and categories of clothing they were looking for.
Before exiting, visitors were asked to sign a welcome book and to write any comments they might have. A small card was given to each family with the names of the UU Five Points Cluster Churches responsible for this ministry, and a list of the future dates of CommUnity Closet openings.
The CommUnity Closet is a social justice project that will evolve and grow as we come to better understand the needs and culture of the families we are hoping to serve. The CommUnity Closet is a resource available to all members of the Five Points Cluster Churches and is open each second Saturday of the month. To donate or to volunteer please contact Rev. Roger Peltier.
