May 21 – Redemption
May 21, 2017
Dave Egan in the pulpit with special guest Zephas Freeman exploring the mass incarceration crisis and how we can respond.
Music: The choir will sing a couple of selections from our songbook Singing the Journey. For our Introit, the choir will lead the congregation in the rousing Jazz Alleluia round and at the Offertory, the choir will sing a wonderful gospel arrangement of the traditional spiritual Hush. And for our Postlude, the choir will serenade our departing ministerial intern David Egan with the lively Latin classic Adios by Perez Prado.
Religious Education: Please join us a “Make Your Own Ice Cream Sundae.“ We will take this opportunity to say farewell and appreciate our ministerial Intern Dave Egan, who will be continuing his internship at Old Ship UU church in Hingham next year. Let me know if you can help with the clean up after our ice cream sundae party. In Religious Education the theme for May is embodiment. The books we will be discussing will be “ What I Believe, Kids Talk About Faith,” written by Debbie and Tom Birdseye and also the book, “Unitarian Universalism Is A Really Long Name,“ written by Jennifer Dant. We will make a chalk labyrinth outside and make nature art.
