Music in Worship

Music plays an important part in our Sunday services and in the life of our congregation.

James Chubet, our talented Music Director, plays our Yamaha Grand piano and the 1951 Estey pipe organ (touted by the company that tunes the organ to be in a Civil War era George Stevens case). Hear the organ demonstration following its annual tuning.

Jim also directs our adult choir and works with children of all ages who perform at intergenerational services. Members of our congregation and professional musicians treat us to vocal and instrumental music on a regular basis during Sunday services.

Special musical events have included a chamber quartet concert in the winter and an annual coffee house in the spring. The chamber concert features the Cottage Quartet. The Coffee House showcases First Parish musicians of all ages as well as performers from outside our Parish, who regularly perform at the event.

Come to enjoy the music that is an integral part of Sunday services at First Parish. If you are interested in participating in our music program, you can contact Jim Chubet at chubet99@comcast.net.
