Looking Toward My Final Months with FPUU

By , March 1, 2024

It’s hard to believe, but this upcoming month marks exactly three-quarters of the way through my time with you all in Canton. (But don’t get ready to say goodbye just yet! I’ll still be here through the summer, and I’m really looking forward to it!) As I move into this final period of my internship, Rev. Clyde has encouraged me to reflect on my journey and what’s brought me here and to share some of that story with you all, both in this column and in an upcoming March sermon. During earlier sermons this year, Rev. Clyde and Rev. Michelle have told us about important moments in their own journeys to ministry, and this month, it’ll be my turn.

As some of you know, I have a number of UU commitments outside of this internship; I serve as the Vice President of EqUUal Access, co-lead the Disability Caucus at General Assembly, and am an active UU historian and member of the UU Studies Network. But when I started seminary, I didn’t have any of that in mind! I was originally hoping to become a Minister of Religious Education and run a youth program (and I’m delighted that I get to revisit that dream temporarily in running our OWL program this year.) When I preach later this month, I’ll be sharing how things changed, as well as some of my experiences being a queer, disabled woman in Unitarian Universalist ministry. I hope you can join me, whether in person or on Zoom!
