Update from our Ministerial Intern

By , November 3, 2022

I am so pleased to be starting my third month with you all at First Parish! As part of every UUA internship, the Ministerial Intern is advised by an Intern Committee, and I’m happy to announce that after meeting with several of you, we now have an official committee put together. I look forward to being advised by them! In addition to the committee members, I have been enjoying getting to know you all at worship, over Zoom, and at coffee hour. And if we haven’t yet met, consider this your invitation to reach out! You can find me at church on Tuesday afternoons, or we can set up a Zoom or a phone call anytime.

Since my special focus as Ministerial Intern is to help strengthen Canton’s RE program, I am also excited to announce that we now have enough CORI-checked volunteers to begin teacher training for Children’s RE! Look for an announcement about a post-coffee hour Teacher Training in the mid-week email soon. Even if you haven’t formally signed up to be an RE volunteer, you are welcome to join us and learn about our upcoming RE programming and safety guidelines. We currently have the bare minimum number of volunteers needed to run the program, so we are definitely looking for more folks to join us! We are also considering a couple of Adult Religious Education programs, and I will share more information about the possibilities later this month. If there’s a topic or practice you’re particularly drawn to for ARE, please let me know; I’d love to hear from you!

Finally, I’m so glad so many of you were able to join us for the first Coffee Hour Conversation with Rev. Clyde. As a next step, we’ll be encouraging the community to think of specific projects we can work on together to enrich our church life. And we’ll be working toward ways to engage our friends on Zoom in similar conversations, as well!

Warmly,
Elizabeth
